network lags

​I live in a good suburb. I have a great modem and an even better router. I have the second fastest internet package available in my area - 500 MBPS! I have coworkers that live in rural areas with satellite internet -- yes that's a thing! SATELLITE internet!

Why is it on all conference calls with clients and teams calls that my connectivity is the one that lags? Here's a example of a day in the life at the homeplaceofthefuture

"where'd ya go?"
"I missed parts of that"
"did you drop"
"I'm sorry there's a delay"
"are your kids playing fortnite again"

Note to self - get the kids their own network
